Steve started in comics in tthe 1970's as a member of the "Crusty Bunkers". His first work was assisting Neal Adams on a Denny O'Neill written Vampirella story published by Warren Publishing. Soon after he graduated to writing and his early works included Amazing Adventures, The Defenders, and The Avengers starting with issue 105. His career then took him to writing Doctor Strange, co-creating Shang-Chi with Jim Starlin, and Captain America. A falling out at Marvel moved him to DC Comics where credits include Batman, Detective Comics, and Justice League of America. Guardians of the Galaxy fans have Steve to thank for the creation of Star-Lord and Todd McFarlane fans should note that Steve hired him to work on Coyote, his first comic book work.
