We're excited to have Paul Coker, Jr. at our next event in November.
Paul is one of the "Original gang of Idiots" and is the only one still doing work for MAD MAGAZINE. His 'Horrifying Cliches' are a favorite of MAD fans everywhere. His work has appeared in many magazines and on HALLMARK Greeting cards for many years. In the mid-1960s, he began to do work for RANKIN/BASS PRODUCTIONS. His style was very animatable and became the trademark look of Rankin/Bass' holiday specials. He created the Christmas card look for Rankin/Bass' Frosty the Snowman, that Arthur Rankin was looking for and it has aired every Holiday season on the CBS Network since 1969. Paul created the look of the Heat Miser/Snow Miser in Rankin/Bass' The Year Without A Santa Claus and designed many of the Animagic specials including Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town and Here Comes Peter Cottontail. His lettering style was used in the credits and on signs and buildings in the specials and Rankin/Bass hired Coker to do their full page advertisements in VARIETY magazine every year. Paul designed and did hundreds of model sheets for RANKIN/BASS, some which were never produced.
